In Any Weather, as a Sydneysider we are often captivated by the dramatic storms that roll in overhead.
Capturing the drama and intensity of a storm over Sydney Harbour, I've used gestural brushstrokes to contrast imposing turbulence and serene light. Is the storm rolling in or heading out to sea?
Just as mesmorising as a passing storm, you decide.
Either way, the markmaking in this piece engages me every time - even as the artist! My son affectionately refers to the artwork as "Look, Boat." I’m drawn to the oil stick marks and energy in the piece and that I can return to the piece again and again and see new marks and nuances in the storm of clouds.
